Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee was painted by Rembrandt in 1633. It depicts the biblical story of Jesus calming the storm as described in the Gospel of Mark. A tremendous wave beats the bow and rips the sail as the disciples struggle to maintain control of the boat, and only Christ remains calm. The painting was previously in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston but was stolen in 1990 and remains missing.
